MARION, Ill (WSIL) -- After Monday night's unveiling of new developments in Marion the owners of the Oasis Mall are speaking out about the excitement of what's to come.
Although plans have not been finalized, Rodney Cabaness, co-owner of Oasis Mall in Marion, says Monday night's unveiling at the city council meeting about new developments in the city is just a prelude of upcoming growth and opportunities for ¾ÅÓÎÌåÓý Illinois.
He says some of those details include a possible sporting complex area outside the mall and gave News 3 an example using soccer.
"Teams are having to go one way all the way one way or all the way the other way. If we can create a location here in the middle the we bring everybody to Marion and then that gives us and opportunity to make all those people that are just coming for a soccer experience, make it the best soccer experience they ever had and then our restaurants, our hotels, our local businesses they all experience that influx," he said.
Multiple attractions are expected to be inside the Oasis mall including a trampoline park, skydiving, go-carts and more.
He says these renovations are about creating an atmosphere of entertainment.
"Entertainment, the excitement of that and families being able to get together and do things and making memories, that what seems to drive people to want to get out and about," he said.
And a new golfing complex similar to "Top Golf" is also expected to be built by the mall Cabaness says he's proud of all the hard work that's been put into these new developments.
"To be a part of that and helping each other and having a front row seat to that is amazing for us. We're really thankful," he said.
Cabaness says plans for the renovations aren't finalized yet since they're still getting ideas from the community.
There's no exact time frame for when they'll start building, but he says it's happening soon.
