One person dead, two others flown to the hospital after head-on crash in Pope County

POPE COUNTY, IL (WSIL) � Authorities continue to investigate a crash Saturday afternoon that claimed the life of one person in Pope County.

According to officials with the Pope County Fire Protection District, the accident happened just after 2 p.m. Saturday.

The crash involved two vehicles head-on collision on Highway 145 near Lusk Campground.

Two people from one of the vehicles were flown to an area hospital with injuries. One person in the other vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.

Illinois State Police closed the road for almost four hours to reconstruct the accident.
