(WSIL) -- Illinois Republican State Representatives Blaine Wilhour, Patrick Windhorst, Paul Jacobs and Dave Severin held a virtual town hall meeting Wednesday to discuss their "Reimagine Illinois" agenda.
It's a four-point plan that they say would end corruption, create responsible fiscal leadership, jobs and safer neighborhoods. In their presentation, they say lobbying and conflicts of interests are just a couple issues holding communities back.
Representative Windhorst says they also want to work on truly balanced budgets.
"Decades of reckless spending and borrowing has created record debt. Failures to address inefficiencies in government agencies has led to overblown budgets and at the same time reductions in services. More spending means higher taxes for everyone," he said.
Representative Jacobs says their agenda will provide ways to attract and keep families in Illinois by providing more job opportunities, establishing apprenticeships and education programs and eliminating mandates on businesses.
In the final part of the plan, Representative Dave Severin says they want to tackle the rising crime rate, FOID card denial for citizens and repeal the Criminal Reform Bill to protect police and communities.
"Our law enforcement people, they're very concerned and the other thing is we want to challenge our brightest and best to apply for those positions and right now we're not giving them a reason," he said.
A for residents has been made to gather support for these plans.
