...The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in
Illinois...

Big Muddy River near Plumfield and near Murphysboro

.Moderate flooding continues along the Big Muddy River. At
Plumfield, the river is currently cresting near 28.1 feet. At
Murphysboro, the river has crested and started a very slow fall.

For the Big Muddy River...including Plumfield, Murphysboro...
Moderate flooding is forecast.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Caution is urged when walking near riverbanks.

- Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours
ending at 10:30 AM CDT Thursday was 28.2 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to fall to 20.7 feet
Thursday, April 17.
- Flood stage is 20.0 feet.
- Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of
28.0 feet on 04/03/1985.

Rend Lake Fireworks unlikely to happen in 2020

FRANKLIN CO. (WSIL) 鈥� The Benton/West City Area Chamber of Commerce will not put on the annual Fourth of July Rend Lake Fireworks in 2020.

According a release on the 聽the fireworks show has become a financial and physical burden. The chamber has reached out for volunteers and financial partnerships but has not had any luck.

Chamber President Lauren Johnson called it an "extremely difficult" decision聽but the best one for the chamber and its members.

The chamber is asking any group that wants to take over the Rend Lake Fireworks in 2021 or partner with them to reach out.聽
