DEXTER, MO (WSIL) -- After an EF-2 tornado touched down Saturday night in Dexter. Residents, city leaders, and business owners are assessing damage and starting to clean up the debris.

"We just got missed by inches. It could've taken our whole house, it was so bad." said resident Jamie Burgess.

"My whole chimney is completely gone, we have a huge pecan tree in our backyard, it was uprooted and slammed on our fence and its on top of wires right now so our whole fence was hot."

"We're now looking at not having power for 48 hours, possibly longer, we don't know." said Burgess.

"It was pretty scary, it was hailing a lot, lightning, lots of rain obviously. When everything was done there was still a lot of rain and the tornado sirens went off and everybody was panicking." said resident Kiah Burgess.

"It picked up pretty quick, it was pouring then all of the sudden you could hear all of the wind just going, going, going. We rushed down to the basement and I mean, it happened in a blink of an eye." said resident Ryder Boles.

"It was pretty scary not gonna lie, this was the worst I've ever been through. We've had so much help. We've got so many great friends who

came by and helped, we really appreciate it." said Boles.

"I'm just thankful that everyone is ok and that everyone made it out okay and God had his hands on us" said Burgess.
