MARION (WSIL) -- The Salvation Army of 九游体育 Illinois held a Red Kettle Blitz Friday at spots across Williamson and Jackson counties.
The event was raise money to make up a $28,000 shortfall from the holiday red kettle campaign.
Banterra Bank and Pepsi partnered with the drive.
Banterra had ringers at the Marion and Carbondale Kroger stores. Pepsi had ringers on the Square in Marion. One volunteer says the weather didn't stop the opportunity to lend a hand.
"Oh my gosh! It's amazing! It's a horrible, horrible day, but people are still taking the time in the rain and in the cold to dig in their purses and find anything that they can or their wallets and donate. It's really nice," said bell ringer Jordan Craig.
The accepts donations year-round.
