SIKESTON, MO (WSIL) -- 69th Sikeston Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo kicked off Wednesday.
Around 500 competitors will go head-to-head in events such as bareback riding, barrel racing and bull riding.
There are also music acts every night after the rodeo events. Participants say the excitement of the crowd is what sets the Sikeston Rodeo apart from others.
"Rodeo is designed to be entertainment for the people, and here in Sikeston they show up by the thousands, they enjoy a good time and they enjoy a good rodeo, and getting to be in the middle of it, there's nothing better." said Cody Webster, Rodeo Billfighter.
The rodeo brings in more than 40,000 people every year. It runs through this Sunday.
