This morning, we areÌý tracking a very active morning. We are currently seeing widespread rainfall.Ìý We are seeing a few thunderstorms currently, but the atmosphere is not longer conducive for widespread thunderstorms. We also are seeing winds gusting between 10 and 20 miles per hour.Ìý

We are tracking heavy rain that will be lasting though mid morning. Temperatures will likely hit their high of 50 to 52 degrees today, between 9 and 11 AM. We will still see scattered showers after the 11 o'clock hour, but showers should begin to taper off slightly after this afternoon.Ìý

Temperatures will drop this afternoon from the low 50s to the mid 30s by 3 PM. We will also see wind gusts go up through the afternoon and evening.Ìý

For this reason, A wind advisory is in effect for until midnight Saturday for sustained winds of 20-30 miles per hour and gusts up to 50 miles per hour.Ìý
Additionally, a High Wind Warning is in effect for parts of Southeastern Illinois and Western KentuckyÌý through midnight Saturday. This is for sustained winds of 20-30 miles per hour, with gusts up to 60 miles per hour possible.

We could see a transition from rain over to sleet and snow in the afternoon hours. However, no substantial accumulations are expected. Any wintry precipitation will be brief and light.Ìý

Behind this system, we are tracking very cold temperatures that will be in the around 30 for Saturday and teens for highs on Sunday. We are tracking the potential for some snow on Sunday night into Monday. It is too early to discuss exact totals, but the latest trends keep the heaviest snow totals out of the region.Ìý

Very cold temperatures will last through the week next week, and we may not get above freezing for 5 to 6 days.ÌýÌý
