Illinois...

Big Muddy River near Plumfield and Murphysboro.

.Levels will continue to fall on the Big Muddy River, dropping
below flood stage near Plumfield Sunday, and near Murphysboro
Tuesday.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Caution is urged when walking near riverbanks.

* WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.

* WHERE...Big Muddy River near Plumfield.

* WHEN...Until late Sunday evening.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 7:30 PM CDT Wednesday the stage was 23.9 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to fall below flood stage
Sunday afternoon.
- Flood stage is 20.0 feet.

Construction underway at Cape Girardeau mall

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. -- Contractors are deep in construction on upgrades to a Cape Girardeau mall.

Work on the West Park Mall is currently focused on the east wing exterior. Fences have been erected to block the public's access from the site.  

River City Centre is leading the construction on the mall to re-establish the mall as a key spot for residents.  The group plans to "return the property to one of the region's primary draws for retail and entertainment" according to the original release on the project in April 2023.

Officials expect this portion of construction to be completed by next spring.
