Shehorn arrest

CARLISLE COUNTY, Ky. -- Officials arrested a man on Thursday evening for the suspected murder of a young girl.

Chief Deputy Ben Green with the Carlisle County Sheriff's Office found suspect Lucas Shehorn after Kentucky State Police (KSP) presented the case to the Carlisle County Grand Jury.

According to the sheriff's office, the case presented by police involved a two-car crash from May 21, 2023. The crash occurred at the intersection of US Highway 62 and KY Highway 307. During a crash, officials say a four-year-old girl died.

Evidence presented by KSP led to the indictment of Shehorn on the following charges, according to the sheriff's office:

  • Murder
  • Assault
  • Persistent Felony Offender

A warrant was issued for Shehorn's arrest, which Chief Deputy Green carried out at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Shehorn was found at his home in the 100 block of Orchard Street in Bardwell. He was taken into custody at the Ballard County Jail.

The sheriff's office says the investigation remains ongoing. Shehorn remains innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
