Man Faces Charges after Police say they Found 15 Guns and Meth During Search

MT. VERNON, Ill. -- Police took a man into custody on Thursday who they say possessed 15 guns plus a large quantity of methamphetamine. 

The Mount Vernon Police Department says its officers carried out a search warrant in the 1200 block of S. 27th Street. Police worked with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office Narcotics Division to obtain the warrant.

According to a press release from police, the investigation ended with Stephen Matthew Warren, 48, in custody. 

Authorities say they found 15 firearms, ammunition, varying quantities of Meth and drug paraphernalia in Warren's home. The findings were taken to the office as evidence. 

Police brought Warren to the Jefferson County Jail. Officials say he faces charges for Aggravated Possession with the Intent to Deliver Meth and Possession of Firearms with a Revoked FOID. 

As a reminder, Warren remains innocent until declared guilty in court.
