WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Ill. -- Officials arrested a man at a traffic stop who they said had a number of illegal objects in his possession.
The stop occurred on June 4 around 2:25 p.m. Officials with the Williamson County Sheriff's Office stated they noticed the car break multiple traffic laws around Stotlar Road east of IL Route 37.
The sheriff's office said deputies spoke to the men in the car, who told the deputies there were drugs and paraphernalia present. Deputies then asked all passengers to get out of the car for a search.
One passenger, Jordan A. Travelstead, was reported as being argumentative. Officials say Travelstead reached for his pockets, and at this time, deputies believed they saw a gun. A deputy then grabbed the firearm and threw it to the ground.
Travelstead was secured in handcuffs and then searched.
Deputies report finding a glass device for smoking inside of Travelstead's pockets. The item reportedly had Methamphetamine residue inside.
A further search of the car yielded a bag with Meth, paraphernalia and Travelstead's wallet and ID.Â
Officials say the believed-gun turned out to be look-alike Co2 BB gun.
The deputies brought Travelstead to the Williamson County Jail on the following citations:
- Possession of Methamphetamine
- Possession of Drug ParaphernaliaÂ
