Marion man faces aggravated battery charge after one sent to hospital

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ill. -- Officials in Franklin County arrested a suspect after one person was sent to a hospital with injuries.

Officials said the victim experienced a rough beating that required medical treatment. The victim was taken to a regional hospital.聽

The Franklin County Sheriff's Office learned of the incident on March 14 around 9:00 p.m. from the West Frankfort Ambulance/Fire group. The group told the sheriff's office to get to the American Legion Post in Orient to help with the situation.聽

Officials arrived on the scene to investigate and shift through security footage. The footage revealed a suspect to officials. Further investigation revealed the suspect lived in Marion.

The sheriff's office called the Marion Police Department, who arrested the suspect on behalf of the sheriff's office. Police arrested Charles S. Ligon, 32, and transferred custody to Franklin County deputies.聽
