PADUCAH, Ky. -- McCracken County will hold its "Scarf in the Park" for the 8th year on Christmas Eve.Â
The event is hosted by The Guess Foundation and gives a chance for those in need to obtain free clothing to keep them warm during the cold months. Hats, scarves, gloves and socks are hung on clotheslines for anyone to take.Â
“We know there are people in our community who will have nowhere to go on Christmas Eve, said Morgan Guess, co-founder of the Guess Foundation. “We also know they will be cold, and likely sad and lonely. No one should go without a present, and we believe no one should be cold. We hope this simple act of kindness gives them hope."
The event will be hosted on the lawn of the McCracken County Courthouse for the first time this year. The foundation hopes this location makes it easier for homeless members of the Paducah population to get to the event.Â
Volunteers should arrive at 1:00 p.m. to hang the items, and the public may arrive starting at 2:00 p.m. to take what they need.Â
All items have a hand-written note pinned to them addressed to the people getting them.Â
