PADUCAH, Ky. -- The Obion Creek Bridge in Hickman County will extend to a complete closure for an estimated three weeks starting Tuesday.Ìý

Crews will use the time to repair floor beams on the bridge which have begun to erode.Ìý

The bridge sits on KY 58 around the 4.9 mile marker, between KY 1772 and KY 1540. The spot first saw driving restrictions on January 21, when the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) capped the driving weight at three tons.Ìý

The plan for the repairs estimates the closure to last about three weeks. Workers scheduled the project to begin Tuesday at 9:00 a.m.

A detour will not be marked. The KYTC suggests using roads such as KY 1300, KY 123 and KY 1826.Ìý

The bridge has remained functional since its opening in 1929. Around 575 vehicles pass over the bridge each day.Ìý

Keep up to date with this project and others on the .Ìý
