PADUCAH, Ky. -- Patients at the new Mercy Health Cancer Center in Paducah will receive treatment in a serene space thanks to local artwork placed along the walls.
The center revealed on Tuesday it received over 60 art pieces from the . A board member of the Guild attended the city's Creative and Cultural Council's open house in 2023 and was inspired by the event's discussion of artwork's motivation to employees.
“The artists and the Art Guild, a small business, benefit financially, while the corporation improves their environment and employee experience," Paducah Creative & Cultural Council Chair, Cindy Ragland said.
The Guild felt its art could benefit the community at a local business and saw the upcoming cancer center as a possible option. Executive Director of Oncology Service Line of Mercy Health John Monteville agreed that art could inspire both patients and employees and supported the idea.
Vice President of the Guild Patience Renzulli and Treasurer Stefanie Graves worked alongside Mercy Health designers to curate artwork for the new center. Various art techniques were selected for the display, including paintings, photographs, quilts, fibers, metals and mixed media.
Residents can stop by the center in Paducah on Saturday, July 13 starting at 10:00 a.m. to see the center's services and artwork.
