CARBONDALE, Ill. (WSIL) -- Officers in Carbondale responded to the 500-block of South Rawlings where they described a shooting incident took place and a fight was reported on Thursday evening.
Police alerted the public at 6:52 p.m. about the shooting and urged everyone to avoid the area.
Carbondale police said they found two victims with gunshot wounds. They were then taken to a local hospital by the Jackson County Ambulance Service.
Officers later learned a third victim arrived at the hospital.
Two of the three injured victims were reported as teenage juveniles.
Nearly two hours later, at 8:48 p.m., Carbondale police again alerted the public, stating the scene was cleared.
Police said there isn't any suspect information to release at this time, however, the investigation is active and ongoing.
The SIU Department of Public Safety and Jackson County Sheriff's Office assisted at the scene and hospital.
