Big Muddy River near Plumfield affecting Franklin and Williamson
Counties.

For the Big Muddy River...including Plumfield, Murphysboro...
Moderate flooding is forecast.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Caution is urged when walking near riverbanks.

forecast.

* WHERE...Big Muddy River near Plumfield.

* WHEN...Until further notice.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 8:30 PM CDT Thursday the stage was 28.0 feet.
- Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours
ending at 8:30 PM CDT Thursday was 28.2 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 28.0
feet just after midnight tonight.
- Flood stage is 20.0 feet.

Rt. 14 in Franklin County to temporarily close

(WSIL) -- IDOT is alerting drivers of an upcoming closure on Route 14 near the Franklin-Hamilton County line. 

Beginning Tuesday, May 17, Illinois 14 will be closed between Thompsonville Road and Ewing Road, weather permitting. The road is expected to reopen by 3 p.m. on Friday, May 27. 

Crews will be creating a temporary detour that will be used during the replacement of a bridge due to mine subsidence. 

Drivers need to follow the marked detour.Â
