Warm, breezy & cloudy today -- tracking a cool and soggy Hallo-Weekend

WSIL (Carterville) -- No matter what type of weather you prefer, whether cold/hot or dry/soggy, there's a good chance you'll get it between now and next Tuesday.

We're starting off warm today with temperatures in the mid 60s as you're headed out the door. Nothing should slow you down on your morning commute as we're just tracking clouds and breezy conditions.

It'll be more of the same this afternoon with highs climbing back into the 70s and low 80s. We may see a few stray showers thanks to a large system off to the west but most of us will stay dry until tomorrow.

Friday is expected to be even warmer than today with the entire region back into the 80s! That's nearly 15 degrees above our average high for this time of the year. As the front gets closer, we see a greater chance for rainfall.

Scattered showers will be off and on throughout Friday, but won't be something everyone will see. Totals will be around a quarter of an inch. Wind gusts will be close to 25 mph.

The front will begin to sweep the Midwest this weekend and as it does, it will bring a solid chance for showers. It's unfortunate timing for any of your Hallo-weekend plans but the rain is needed. If you have outdoor activities, you'll likely need a backup plan.

Behind the front, we'll see temperatures drop significally. There's a possibility for the first 'hard freeze' of the season as we head into Halloween making it bone-chilling to say the least.
