JACKSON, MO (WSIL) -- Jackson Boys soccer won their first state title, a 1-0 victory over St. Dominic in the Class 4 championship. The Indians are still trying to soak it all in.

Hoisting a state championship is a feeling like no other for the Jackson boys soccer team

"Felt like I was king of the world. Feels good to be the first Jackson soccer team to do it and feels good to be, that my senior class did it.," Jackson senior center-midfielder Jake Sauerbrunn said.

"What a cool atmosphere in this community right now," Jackson Boys Head Soccer Coach Zack Walton said. "Anywhere we go in town right now, just so many people are just congratulating us and talking to us a little bit about the game so it's been pretty exciting."

Chalon Domian allowed the celebration begin when he scored a nifty goal in overtime. The junior knew he was going to score the game winner all along..

"The night before I was going to bed and I was like I can't go to bed and was thinking about the game tomorrow and I'm like oh I'm going to score and it's going to be in overtime so I literally dreamed about it so having it come true is pretty cool," Jackson junior forward Chalon Domian said.

This team was always confident but no moment ever seemed too big..two double overtime wins got the Indians to the championship game

"Every time we went to overtime it was a calming sensation, after the first two times it was like we had it after that point," Jackson senior center back Devin Reiminger said.

"Within the team there was never any doubt," Jackson senior keeper Luke Mirly said. "We were confident the whole way. We knew we could win every game and that was one thing that made this team so special was that we never looked past anyone."
