CARTERVILLE (WSIL) -- To start sports Extra, we decided to recognize a recent state champion, the Carterville Cheerleaders. Friday night, they were recognized and performed before the boys varsity basketball game.
Once the game started, Pickneyville had their way with the Lions. Devin Kitchen led the Panthers with 17 points, Dawson Yates chipped in with 16. Carterville's Eli Downen had a game high 21 points. Pinckneyville rolled past Carterville 66-38.
Entering Friday night, Murphysboro could wrap up the ¾ÅÓÎÌåÓý Illinois River-to-River Ohio Division with a win over Benton, but the Rangers had other plans. Benton knocked off Murphysboro 54-44.
Dezmond Clark led the Red Devils with 15 points and Benton's Reece Johnson had a game high 19 points.
JJ Sweats had some key baskets for Massac County and the Patriots held off West Frankfort 68-45.
On senior night, Harrisburg pulled off a shocking upset, clobbering Herrin 69-38.

In the South Seven the Macklin brothers, Davaris and Tavaris made some highlight reel plays to help the Terriers crush Altoff Catholic 76-45.

Goreville crushes Trico 72-36 and with the win the Blackcats finish a perfect 12-0 in the Black Diamond Conference West Division and 29-2 on the regular season.
