CARBONDALE, IL (WSIL) - Golfers came together in Carbondale on Saturday to play for a heroic and noble deed.
Around 45 golfers joined to raise money for the fire station.
45 golfers took place in the Second Annual Golf Scramble at Hickory Ridge. The game cost $100 per player, and the money raised will go toward funding the fire station.
Mother nature was unpredictable but good enough to play a round of golf.
Winning was not the goal. It was all about helping the department.
"It's great that we have the supporters who want to come out and have fun golfing," said Fire Chief Tom Gottschalk. "We started out a little rainy, but, at the end of the day, the weather has turned out wonderful. Knowing that [the golfers] had a great time supporting us, its awesome."
By the turnout, the scramble raised close to $5,000.
