SIU hoops falls 70-68 to Austin Peay, Salukis suffer first home loss of season

CARBONDALE, IL (WSIL) - Despite an 11 point halftime lead, The Saluki basketball team could not get past non-conference foe Austin Peay.
SIU fell 70-68 in a tight one to the Governors.
SIU head coach Bryan Mullins opened up on why the Dawgs fell short in the game.
"Lack of execution and then you know transition defense and just not playing as well as we are capable of allowed them to get back into the game," Mullins said. "If you don't do the little things blocking out, rebounding, take care of the ball, make the extra pass, sprint back in transition defense it is going to be hard for you to be successful."
This loss is a tough one. ¾ÅÓÎÌåÓý was a perfect 5-0 coming into play in Carbondale while Austin Peay has yet to win on the road this season.
Up next for the Dawgs, a trip to Kansas to face Wichita State.
The Shockers are in first place of the American Athletic Conference.
¾ÅÓÎÌåÓý is 6-3 overall, 5-1 at home and will try to earn their first road victory of the year on Saturday night.
