CARTERVILLE, IL (WSIL) - With severe weather expected for our region, some high school football games for week 5 in southern Illinois have had schedule changes.

Sparta makes the trip to Red Bud. That game has been moved to Thursday, September 26th, at 7:00 p.m.

The Route 148 Game, which features Christopher hosting Sesser-Valier has been moved up to Thursday at 6:00 p.m. The game will still be played at Christopher High School.

The Murphysboro - Herrin Varsity football game has also been moved. The game will be on Thursday night at 7:15 p.m. at Doc Bencini Field due to the predicted rainfall in the next couple of days. Gates open at 6:45 p.m.

The date change gives players, coaches, and schools a better chance the game gets played while keeping everyone safe.
