WSIL(Carterville, Ill.)-- This morning, we are tracking mostly clear conditions with temperatures in the mid 60s, and lower 70s.Â
Skies this morning will be mostly sunny, but after the lunchtime hour we will see partly cloudy skies as a cold front approaches the area. Ahead of the front, we could see a few isolated showers and a rumble of thunder or two. However, moisture levels needed for rain are running very low, so if we see any isolated showers in southern Illinois, the main window would be between 2PM and 5PM. Isolated showers will linger longer further towards the south across western Kentucky and far southeastern Missouri, likely through 8PM. Again, any shower that does develop will be highly isolated and brief, so Friday night football shouldn't be a washout. The front is expected to clear the region by 10OM to Midnight.Â
Temperatures ahead of our cold front will be warm; by midday we should be in the lower 80s. Highs will be in the mid 80s for a lot of us, and further south, we may see the upper 80s to near 90. By 7PM, temperatures are expected to be in the mid 70s, and by midnight should be in the lower 60s.
Breezy, cool, and dry conditions are expected behind the front with winds expected to be out on the north at 10 to 15 miles per hour with gusts between 20 and 25 miles per hour tonight through most of the day tomorrow. Morning lows tomorrow will be in the lower 50s, and highs will be in the low to mid 70s. Dew points tomorrow afternoon will be in the lower 40s. Low dew points tomorrow, combined with the dough, and gusty winds will create the risk of elevated fire potential. Outdoor burning should be avoided, unless absolutely necessary.Â
Mild weather will stick around for Sunday with morning lows expected to be in the lower 40s, and highs will be in the mid 70s with sunny skies.Â
Sunny Skies will sick around for most of the week next week. But, heat will return as hghs are expected to be in the upper 80s and lower 90s by Tuesday and Wednesday next week.Â
