CARTERVILLE, Ill. (WSIL) -- More snow is expected in southern Illinois after measurable amounts of snow fell recently throughout the northern counties of our region.
The National Weather Service issued a Special Weather Statement as more snow is predicted impact multiple southern Illinois counties on December 2.
On Monday morning, a weaker air disturbance will bring in from a dusting of snow up to an inch. This includes聽
Jefferson, Wayne, Edwards, Wabash, Perry, Illinois, Franklin, Hamilton,
White, Jackson, Williamson, Saline, Gallatin, Johnson, Pope and Hardin counties in Illinois. It also impacts Livingston, Crittenden, Caldwell, Union, Kentucky, Webster, and Hopkins counties in Kentucky, along with additional Kentucky counties east of this area.
With the freezing temperatures, snow will easily stick to roads and bridges, making it treacherous for drivers on their commute to work tomorrow morning.
For road conditions, it鈥檚 important to check the IDOT and KYTC maps to see if snow or ice is impacting any highways.
The National Weather Service also detailed Saturday鈥檚 snow which fell in our area.
In Fairfield and Mt. Vernon, they recorded more than 3 inches of snow. Benton, Illinois recorded more than two and a half inches with lesser amounts of snow in Perry and Williamson Counties.
