Carterville Ill. (WSIL) -- Tonight we will be watching for the threat for some severe weather along with a flooding threat. Primarily the threat is greatest for southeast Missouri but anywhere in the forecast area can see some strong storms and flooding rains tonight.Â
Storms will start firing in the evening around 7-8 PM and should last through the night. The best chance for severe storms would be anytime from 7 PM to 2AM or so. The chance will be there for damaging wind gusts and hail along with a small chance for a quick spin up tornado or two. After 2 AM the ingredients dwindle but the threat for some heavy rain and a few storms will persist for our southern portion of the forecast area.Â

These storms will be focused along a boundary that is stuck to our south and so there's a chance that we see multiple rounds of storms along this boundary which is why there is a medium risk for flash flooding out for SE Missouri. They have the best chance for repeating areas of heavy rain. 2-4 inches could be possible and therefor the threat for flash flooding is greater there. If you are planning to go camping or know anyone camping in the Ozarks region or anywhere in SE Missouri be very vigilant of the weather. Being at camp near any flowing stream or creek can turn to be a deadly move when flash flooding occurs.Â
Rain will stick around for some for the first half of Sunday before finally leaving and everyone drying out Sunday evening. We start a new week with plenty of sunshine and time to dry off from the wet weekend.Â
