WSIL -- A light mix of rain and snow is expected throughout the day Thursday. This morning, precipitation is mainly confined to southeast Missouri, most of it falling as light rain as temperatures are above freezing.

Gradually, precipitation will spread east into far southern Illinois and western Kentucky closer to lunch time. This is NOT a big storm for our region. High pressure positioned across the Upper Midwest is pumping in a lot of dry air from the northeast, hampering precipitation from being heavier.

If there's any accumulation it will likely be confined to higher elevations of the Ozarks in southern Missouri, mainly west of Highway 67. Farther east, if there's any snow mixing in, it will likely be light and short-lived.
