(WSIL) -- At Tuesday's Carterville City Council meeting, leaders voted 6 to 2 to keep playgrounds at Cannon Park & James Street Park closed until further notice.
Carterville Mayor Brad Robinson tells News 3 the move was made to stay within the guidelines of Phase 3 of Gov. Pritzker's Restore Illinois Plan.

(WSIL) -- Leaders in Carterville, IL are considering reopening their playgrounds.
At Tuesday's City Council meeting, leaders will vote on whether or not to reopen the playground equipment at Cannon Park and James Street Park.
City Council member Tom Harness says, "This playground effects the community. This allows everybody to to come and enjoy, get some fresh air and exercise and by all means, myself and I can't speak for everybody, we do want the safety of our community to come first, that is absolutely so important. But we also have to talk about the safety from a mental health aspect as well."
Tonight's meeting takes place at 7:00 at the Carterville City Hall.
