Illinois surpasses 22,000 Coronavirus deaths

(WSIL) -- Health departments across southern Illinois are reporting 12 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, May 2, 2021.

Egyptian Health Department:

  • No cases to report

Franklin County:

  • New Cases: 1
  • Total Cases: 4507
  • Total Deaths: 63

Jackson County:

  • Female: one in her twenties, and one in her sixties
  • Male: one teen, two in their twenties, one in his thirties, and one in his seventies

Health officials are currently monitoring 78 active cases. Jackson County has had 5,006 cases to date, with 72 related deaths. Of those positive cases, 4,856 individuals released from isolation, including 7 Sunday.

Williamson County:

  • New Cases:  4
  • Total Cases: 7573
  • Total Deaths: 121

Illinois Department of Public Health:

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 1,860 new confirmed and probable cases of coronavirus disease Sunday, including 27 additional deaths.

Currently, IDPH is reporting a total of 1,339,728 cases, including 22,019 deaths across the state.

A total of 9,393,137 vaccines have been administered.
