Big Boy is 133 feet long and weighs over one million pounds. It’s just one of 25 steam engines built by Union Pacific in the 1940s.Ìý
The locomotive is on its way to Wyoming in honor of the 150th anniversary of the Transcontinental Railroad. It left from West Chicago Tuesday, just one of its many stops on its way back to its original perch at the Union Pacific Steam Shop in Cheyenne.
Big Boy is "on track" to be in Cheyenne by Aug. 8.Ìý
