Boil water order

HARRISBURG, Ill. (WSIL) -- The Harrisburg Water Department announced a city-wide boil order due to maintenance work on a water main.

The maintenance was set to begin at 10 p.m. on June 10.

The boil order will remain in effect from 10 p.m. on June 10, until further notice.

The CDC recommends bringing water to a full rolling boil for one minute, or three minutes at elevations above 6,500 feet. Then allow the water to cool before using it.

When washing hands with tap water during a boil water order, it's recommended to use soap and water, then using alcohol-based hand sanitizer and let them air dry.
