DU QUOIN, Ill. (WSIL) -- A boil water order has been issued for customers in certain areas on Thursday.
The City of Du Quoin alerted the public on March 27, just after 1 p.m. about the boil water order. This order is for customers on Hickory Street from W. Perry to Industrial Park Blvd.Â
The order is in effect until further notice.
The CDC recommends bringing water to a full rolling boil for one minute, or three minutes at elevations above 6,500 feet. Then allow the water to cool before using it.
When washing hands with tap water during a boil water order, it's recommended to use soap and water, then using alcohol-based hand sanitizer and let them air dry.
