CARTERVILLE, Ill. (WSIL) -- UPDATE: June 26, 9 a.m. -- The boil water order in Carterville has been lifted for all water customers.
UPDATE: A second water main break is effecting water customers in Carterville on Wednesday.
The City of Carterville updated the public at 1:10 p.m., stating the second water main break occurred after the water service was resumed from the first break on June 25.
City officials said when the water is restored, a boil water order will be in effect until further notice.
ORIGINAL: Carterville residents are facing a disruption in water service following a water main break in front of the Fire Department.
City personnel informed the public of the water main break on Wednesday morning.
All Carterville water customers are under a boil order until further notice.
Residents should bring water to a rolling boil for at least five minutes before using it for drinking and cooking purposes.
Additionally, John A. Logan College stated their main campus will be closed on June 25, starting at 10 a.m. due to the water main break. They also stated they will postpone the Dr. Glenn Poshard Poetry Reading and the GED Graduation Ceremony for a later date.
