CARTERVILLE, Ill. (WSIL) - The largest one-day food drive is coming up soon. It's a chance for residents to help out those in need right in their own community.

It's the National Association Of Letter Carriers Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive which is taking place on Saturday, May 10.

Residents are encouraged to fill a bag or box with shelf-stable non-perishable foods and leave it by your mailbox for when the letter carrier comes by.

Some non-perishable foods include canned beans, dried beans, peanut butter, low sodium soups, canned meats, nuts, seeds, dried fruits, toiletries and more.

Area organizations, such as Heaven's Kitchen and SEMO Food Bank, will be recipients of the donated foods which will then be used to help those in need in our local communities.
