MARION, Ill. (WSIL) -- Marion is gearing up for a magical evening with the Third Thursday: Make Believe Night event. This free event is set for May 15 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Downtown Marion Square.

"We're thrilled to bring this event to the community," said Alisha Carruthers, President and Event Coordinator of Marion Connects.

The event will feature cosplay characters, Cinderella carriage rides, Power Wheels for kids, a rock wall, and a hot air balloon. Local vendors will provide snacks, and there will be face painting and balloon animals.

Carruthers emphasized the importance of community support.

"It's a wonderful opportunity for families, friends, and neighbors to come together, support local businesses, and make lasting core memories," she said.

Attendees are encouraged to dress as their favorite characters and enjoy the festivities. Multiple area companies and organizations sponsored the event.

"We're grateful for the support of our title sponsors, Pro-Tek Fiber, NorthBridge I.T. Services, and SkyCab Balloon Promotions, as well as our Gold sponsor, Clark Concrete, and our Patron sponsors," said Alisha. "Their contributions help make events like this possible, and we're thankful for their commitment to our community."
