...FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH THIS EVENING...

* WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be
possible.

* WHERE...Areas of southern Illinois along and south of Highway 13
and all of western Kentucky.

* WHEN...Through this evening.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur
in poor drainage and urban areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- Scattered to numerous thunderstorms will develop across
southern Illinois and western Kentucky. Areas that see
thunderstorms could receive 1.5 to 3.0 inches of rain in just
one or two hours, with locally higher amounts up to 4 inches
possible.


PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.

Saint Louis Zoo plans to reopen June 13

ST. LOUIS (WSIL) -- After weeks of being closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Saint Louis Zoo is making plans to reopen.

The zoo announced Wednesday it will reopen to the public Saturday, June 13. There will be new safety measures and protocols in place.

  • Attendance at Saint Louis Zoo will be limited and free, timed reservations will be required. Guests can make those reservations at beginning 9 a.m. Monday, June 8.
  • All guests over the age of 9 must wear face masks/coverings. Zoo officials say guests unable to wear a mask for medical reasons are exempt. Masks may also be lowered when social distancing more than six feet from others or when eating or drinking.

“I am excited to share the news about our reopening and I hope everyone knows that the Saint Louis Zoo values safety,� said Jeffrey Bonner, Ph.D., Dana Brown President & CEO, Saint Louis Zoo. “I am amazed at the incredible care our staff has provided to the animals during this pandemic as well as the diligent work underway in preparation to provide our guests with safe and memorable experiences.�
