SIKESTON, Mo. (WSIL) -- A 34-year-old was charged with stealing after police said he stole hundreds of dollars after using a "quick change" tactic.

The Sikeston Department of Public Safety said they learned of a "quick change" incident at a local retail store on January 18. Police said the suspect would ask the cashier for smaller bills in exchange for a larger one.

Police said during this transaction, the suspect would continually talk to the cashier and try to distract and confuse them by asking for the original bill back after receiving the smaller bills he exchanged for.

Later, Sikeston DPS said a man matching the description of the suspect was arrested by the Miner Police Department for a similar incident at a local business.

Dominique Ezell, 34 of Stone Mountain, Georgia, was charged with stealing. Police said Ezell stole several hundreds of dollars from using this "quick change" tactic.

Ezell was then taken to the Scott County Jail.
