FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ill. (WSIL) -- A Stonefort woman was taken into custody in connection to an investigation into a break-in at a rural northern Franklin County home on June 10.
The Franklin County Sheriff's Office said they received a 911 call at about 11:13 p.m. from a resident who discovered her house had been burglarized. She reported seeing a woman leaving her home and fleeing on foot.
Deputies quickly responded and reported finding a woman who matched the description nearby. Law enforcement identified the suspect as Alexis N. Melville, 41, of Stonefort.
According to online court records, Melville faces a burglary charge. She was also wanted in Williamson County for failing to appear in court on a criminal trespass charge, the sheriff's office said.
Melville was taken to the Franklin County Jail.
