BALLARD COUNTY, Ky. (WSIL) â€� At the beginning of April, the River Counties Drug and Violent Crimes Task Force started investigating the jail in Ballard County. On Tuesday, April 21st, two jail officials were arrested.Â
The Carlisle County Sheriff's Office says the McCracken County Sheriff's Office SWAT and the task force searched the jail and found an electronic device that was given to inmates.
Sheriff deputies say the device had internet access and allowed unmonitored text conversations.Â
Authorities say the investigation revealed that jail administrators approved the device, and six inmates had access to it.Â
Following the investigation, charges were brought against Cpt. Matt Quimby and Lt. Logan Redfern.
They're both facing six counts of 1st degree promoting contraband and 2nd degree misconduct.
Quimby was transported to the Marshall County Jail. Redfern was taken to the McCracken County Jail.Â
