(WSIL) -- The man accused of killing a 19-year-old is no stranger to law enforcement.

Illinois State Police say McWilliams is known by multiple names including Alexander McWilliam.
But a dive into online records shows Alexander McWilliams has had multiple stays in the Illinois Department of Corrections.
He was released from Menard Correctional Center, in Chester, in October 2020.
McWilliams served seven weeks after taking a plea deal in connection to a July 2018 shooting in Harrisburg. Initially he faced attempted murder charges, but he plead to obstruction of justice.

Not long after McWilliams was caught. He was wanted for a parole violation in another county as well.
show McWilliams has previous convictions in Cook County and multiple cases in Saline County.
Those cases surrounded crimes like aggravated battery and trespassing.Â
