Police investigate shooting incident in Paducah, one taken to hospital, one in custody

PADUCAH, Ky. (WSIL) -- The Paducah Police Department is investigating a shooting which they say injured an 18-year-old man late Saturday night.

Officers responded to reports of gunshots on the 1900 block of Madison Street at 10:18 p.m. on June 7. Police said they found the victim had already been taken by private vehicle to a local hospital with multiple gunshot wounds.

The victim was later moved to an out-of-state hospital for further treatment. Police said the 18-year-old is stable.

On July 8, at 12:11 p.m., detectives with the Paducah Police Department identified the suspect as a 16-year-old male. Police said the suspect and victim were involved in previous altercations as well.

Police then said they later pulled over a vehicle, believed to be occupied by the suspect. Police reported finding a 9 mm handgun with an extended magazine.

The juvenile was taken into custody and taken to the McCracken County Juvenile Detention Center.
