* WHERE...All of southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, western
Kentucky, and southeast Missouri.

* WHEN...Until 7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/ Friday.

* IMPACTS...Prolonged exposure to hot temperatures and high humidity
may cause heat illnesses.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.

Texas man charged in 2018 crash that seriously injured Union County child

(WSIL) -- A Texas man is charged with Aggravated Reckless Driving and Reckless Conduct in a 2018 crash in Union County.

Union County State’s Attorney Daniel Klingemann announced today that Derek M. Adams, of Houston, Texas, has been charged with one count of Aggravated Reckless Driving (Class 4 Felony) and one count of Reckless Conduct (Class 4 Felony).

Adams is charged after an extensive investigation by Illinois State Police following a vehicle accident on the off ramp of Interstate 57 and State Route 146, Union County, Illinois in August of 2018.

Adams, while driving a commercial motor vehicle, failed to stop at a stop sign crashing into a passenger car in which one adult and two children were injured. One of the children received life threatening injuries resulting in permanent disability.

Adams is set for a First Appearance on Tuesday, November 17, 2020 at the Union County Courthouse in Jonesboro.
