* WHAT...South winds 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 25 mph expected.

* WHERE...Portions of southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, western
Kentucky, and southeast Missouri.

* WHEN...From 11 AM CDT /noon EDT/ this morning to 7 PM CDT /8 PM
EDT/ this evening.

* IMPACTS...Strong winds and rough waves on area lakes will create
hazardous conditions for small craft.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high
profile vehicles. Use extra caution.

Dorena-Hickman Ferry closed temporarily due to high water

(WSIL) -- The Dorena-Hickman Ferry is temporarily closed due to high water on the Mississippi River.

The ferry normally closes when the Cairo gauge reaches about 44 ft.   The river reading was 44.65 this morning and is expected to stay above that level until around March 14.

The Dorena-Hickman Ferry will provide timely notice when service is able to resume.
