Fishermen find body in ditch in southeast Missouri, police investigate

NEW MADRID COUNTY, Mo. (WSIL) � Authorities are investigating after a body was found in a ditch on Sunday.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said some fishermen spotted a possible body floating in the Saint John’s ditch on April 20, in New Madrid County near County Road 806.

The body was recovered and an autopsy has been scheduled for Tuesday, April 22.

State police said the cause of death is unknown at this time.
