CARTERVILLE Ill. (WSIL) -- It has been a chilly start to the week, and the below average temperatures are expected to stick around. Temperatures will drop into the low 40s overnight, followed by highs in the upper 50s Tuesday afternoon. This is more than 10 degrees below average.
If you have any plants or gardens that you aren't ready to part with, keep an eye on overnight low temperatures. Especially Wednesday and Thursday morning. Widespread frost is likely, with the potential for a freeze. Lows will dip into the low to mid 30s.
The below average temperatures will stick around through much of the week. However, a warming trend will begin mid week. By the weekend high temperatures will rise back into the 70s.
