...HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/
FRIDAY...

* WHAT...Heat index values up to 106.

* WHERE...All of southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, western
Kentucky, and southeast Missouri.

* WHEN...Until 7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/ Friday.

* IMPACTS...Prolonged exposure to hot temperatures and high humidity
may cause heat illnesses.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The first prolonged stretch of heat and
humidity of the season will amplify health impacts. Health impacts
will build with each successive day in the heat and humidity.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.

Halloween cold front will bring beneficial rain to the area!

Carterville, IL. (WSIL) -- This week we start with nice weather but certainly warm! High temperatures are going to grow into the low 80s by the time we get to Tuesday and Wednesday. Southerly flow gets strong so we should expect breezy conditions out of the south starting Tuesday. These will also help increase humidity a bit as we head towards Thursday. These warm and breezy conditions will continue until the cold front arrives on Thursday. 

Rain Amounts

This cold front arriving on Thursday actually looks to have some beneficial rain to it unlike most we have seen recently. Timing will be key for outdoor events but luckily for us this looks to come in for most of the area in the first half of the day. Expect some moderate to even brief heavy rain as it passes potentially impacting the morning commute. This will bring a much needed 1-2 inches of rainfall for a lot of the area.
