CARBONDALE, Ill. (WSIL) -- SIU Carbondale is expanding its free dental clinic's summer schedule for children in the Pinckneyville area.
A big demand for services, staffing and the participation of volunteer dentists helped the clinic broaden its reach.
The clinics provide free dental exams and cleanings, along with preventive dental services. Children outside Perry County are also welcome.
Services will take place at the Perry County Health Department located at 907 South Main Street, Pinckneyville.
The hours are 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. and no patients will be accepted after 3:30 p.m. that day.
All children must be examined first by a dentist before receiving any follow-up care. When possible, the exam and preventive care will be provided on the same day, but children may have to return on a subsequent day, if needed, largely due to time constraints.
Here is the updated schedule for the clinics:
June 24.
July 1.
July 15.
July 16 preventive care only, no dentist available.
July 29.
July 30 preventive care only, no dentist available.
Additional days may be added and the existing schedule is subject to change due to circumstances beyond the control of program coordinators. Please check the program website or SIU Dental Hygiene Clinic Facebook page for updates.
