* WHAT...Heat index values up to 108 expected.

* WHERE...All of southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, western
Kentucky, and southeast Missouri.

* WHEN...Until 7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/ Tuesday.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat
illnesses.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.

Highway in Sesser closed for Oktoberfest

SESSER, Ill. (WSIL) -- Authorities are urging drivers to find an alternative route in Sesser due to an event on Saturday.

The Franklin County Emergency Management Agency informed the public on Saturday morning, State Highway 154 (Franklin Avenue) will be closed in Sesser for the Octoberfest event.

The closure of State Highway 154 will be between State Highway 148 and Cockrum Street through 6 p.m. on Saturday, October 12.

Motorists are urged to use alternative routes of travel through the area.
