MARION, Ill. (WSIL) -- The Crab Orchard National Wildlife Refuge is hosting an event and inviting the public to come out to help clean up the area around the Little Grassy Lake.
The event is held on May 3, from 8 a.m. - 11 a.m. The public is informed to meet up at the Little Grassy Campground to help pick up trash which has been hidden for decades due to the lake levels. Now that the lake has been reduced, officials want to help clean up and beautify the area.
Those who come out should wear clothing appropriate for cleaning up. They also should apply sunscreen and bug spray as well, along with bringing work gloves.
Trash bags will be provided. If you would like to register, you can do so by calling the Visitor Center at 618-997-3344, ext. 1.
